Director without PAYE

Hi-

I’ll soon be applying for British Naturalisation on the basis of residence in the UK (5 years) and will be submitting my forms via the naturalisation checking service.

I have 2 questions regarding my application:

1) I’ve been employed and paid taxes via PAYE from Nov 2005 up to March 2010, but since April 2010 I’ve become a Director of a Limited Company and I no longer pay tax through PAYE. The Company itself is registered for VAT and Companies Tax with HM Revenue & Customs. Since April 2010 the Limited company has submitted and paid 3 VAT returns successfully.

As per the AN guide booklet it says that I require the most recent HM Revenue & Customs Self Assessment statement of Accounts. Since the Financial year for 2010/2011 has not yet ended and I’ve not yet submitted my Self Assessment statement of Accounts, what supporting documents may I present to the Home Office regarding the income I have earned as a Director of a Limited company as proof of Good Character (Section 3 of application form)?

2) I recently married to a British Citizen (20 November 2010) in South Africa. Should I rather apply for UK naturalisation on the basis of marriage to a British citizen?

Appreciate advise regarding these matters.

Regards,
