ferrarilondon, I have just been reading your other topic, about getting ILR at the PEO in Solihull. I am horrified of the cost of ILR these days. When my wife applied for her ILR at that same PEO back in 2002 the cost was ..... £0 .... yes free!

Anyway, as regards applying for Naturalisation, many people are amazed just how little documentation is needed. Have you read the form and guide? If so, why are you mentioning about P60 or tax return statement?

When you sign the form AN you authorise UKBA to contact HMRC. So UKBA can check if you are up-to-date.

Yes John it was terrible paying that much, but hey we decided to make this country our homes so we have to obey the regulations ( heavy fees etc lol )

anyways i just booked NCS appointment end of this month the lady from the council told me to bring all these documents ( p60 etc ) on the day of appointment. secondly PEO solihull did not return my 2 years spouse biometric card. dont i need it to show that i have been living here for more than 3 years or can HO check in their database? i have photo copies with me.

any ideas?

ferrarilondon, when completing the form AN you will enter the dates out and into the UK in the last 3 years. Of course you will complete that section honestly, but you are not required to provide proof of the entries you will make in that section of the form. In short, don't worry.

Of course do ensure that you were physically in the UK exactly three years before UKBA will receive the Naturalisation application.

[Note to others, 3 years applies, rather than 5 years, because this person is married to a British Citizen.]

Thanks John,

So there should not be any problem that PEO Solihul kept my Biometric card, and i dont have to attact p60 or HMRC statement. I just filed my tax return 3 weeks ago and still have not received any statement from them. so what shall i write there?

I have just looked at the form AN, and have to ask, write where? I am not sure which question is concerning you.

And when you say "I just filed my tax return 3 weeks ago", do you really mean you filed it in February? Or did you actually file it before the end of January?

John,
I was having problem with my Government gateway ID and i only realised after 15th of January when i tried to log on and do my tax return online, i called HMRC and finally after waiting on the phones for hour and hours i spoke to some one and they told me that there is a problem with my online account and i should file the paper form, and i will have to pay late filing penalty. so straight away i send them a paper return and still waiting for reply etc. so you think i should not attach anything with the AN form appart from my MRs passport, LIUK and marriage certificate.

Sorry to be pain but John i must say this to every one out there that you are great as you are giving us your precious time and answering our silly questions. God bless you

I don't think you even need to send "LIUK", given that at Q1.22 all you need to do is to tick the first checkbox. UKBA have the ability to check the accuracy of that tick.

But you do need your wife's British passport, and your marriage certificate, and of course your passport, and I think that is it.

Are you intending to submit the Naturalisation application using an NCS office?

Tax situation .... sorry to hear about your online problem. For the future, have you now sorted that out, so that future returns can be filed online?

Yes i am applying through NCS Newham London, they have given me the date end of this month. I havent sorted the online problem yet as they kept saying it to me that they will send new login details etc but still have not received it yet.
