Hi All,

A quick query regarding MN1 form .

The children, if born in the UK, are entitled to register as British citizens 1(3) on MN1 forms as soon as a parent is granted ILR.

Can anyone make it clear that parent means both or either ?

I am going to register my 2 children (1.5 yr old nd 7.5yrs old ) who born in uk as British Citizen on the basis of my husband got ILR last week. I have not got ILR yet .

A prompt answer will be appreciated.

Thanks

First of all I do not know why you have not applied for your ILR along with your husband as a joint application.

As per page 9 of guide_MN1 following is what is mentioned:

Section 1 (3)
A child born in the UK whose parents are not British citizens and were not settled in the UK (see page 6) will have an entitlement to register when their parents become settled in the UK or become British citizens.

Either.
Section 1(3) applications wrote:If the child's parent has become settled in the United Kingdom or becomes a British citizen, the child will have an entitlement to register as a British citizen. This registration would be under section 1(3) of the British Nationality Act 1981.
