Hi All.
I have applied for naturalisation for myself last month and expecting it to come through in next couple of months.
Meanwhile, my wife has just obtained ILR after spending 5 years on WP+Tier 1. We had separate visas right through till ILR.
Now I have been informed that once I obtain citizenship, my wife can straight away apply for naturalisation. My question is, do I have to wait for the passport or I can apply for her naturalisation straight away once I receive my Naturalisation Certificate? or |do I have to wait for oath ceremony?

from what I understand I think you'll have to wait till your passport arrives as you will have to put your passport number on the application.

Naturalisation certificate (recieived at oath ceremony) should suffice instead of British Passport.

Could you please check below line if your wife need to meet this requirement ?
"You must be free from immigration time restrictions when you apply for naturalisation. Unless you are married to or the civil partner of a British citizen, you should have been free from immigration time restrictions during the last 12 months of the residential qualifying period." (Ref:

Second thing, you have to wait for oath ceremony as you can't get your Naturalization Certificate without that ceremony. Once you get Naturalization Certificate, you can apply for your wife naturalization putting your NC number.
Good Luck.
