Hi All,

About three weeks ago I applied for naturalisation as the main applicant on the grounds 5YR HSMP + 1 ILR. My wife is currently on 2.5 yrs HSMP dependant + 1 ILR didn’t apply for naturalisation because she hasn’t been in the country for minimum of 5 years.

Therefore the plan is when I get my application approved, wife will follow suit as wife of three years of a British citizen….

I have two questions:

1) At what point do I qualify as a British citizen?

Looking at the steps involved in the naturalisation process, I BELIEVE it is when my naturalisation application is APPROVED – which is the step before the ceremony – can someone please confirm? Or should I wait till I physically get my passport in hand to apply for wife’s naturalisation?

2) Should I use form AN for her application and which section should I fill in – I cant see any section specific for cases like mine…

I am sorry if this question is being asked before, I did look around but couldn’t find the answer…

yes ofcourse she can apply as a spouse of BC once u naturalized

1: after attend your ceromony you will receive a certificate of naturalization. your wife can use this certifcate for proof when she send her application.(if british passport not availble then certificate is ok)

2. yeah she need to fill AN FORM section 1.34 is specific section for the purpose about partner nationality and if naturalized (like in your case) need to put cerficate number.

i got my certificate today following the pvt ceremony. Wifes ncs appointment is on 8th, can someone pls tell me if ncs will require a copy of my citizenship certificate (to verify the details) for her application?

If they want to see my citi certificate, i have to wait till 8th to apply for my passport. .

The need to see it so you need to wait until the 8th to apply
