UK Passport App - Silly Mistake

So I applied for a first time passport on the 10th. Only to get a letter yesterday letting me know that I did not include my citizenship certificate :-( What a silly mistake I made.

Well, I mailed it to them yesterday and it got there this morning. I am hoping to get my docs back (and perhaps new passport) before Sept 10th as I have a biz trip to go on.

Anyone know how busy they are for interviews at London / Chelmford offices?

If I don't get my new passport on-time, I may end up having to travel on my US passport and perhaps take my citizenship cert with me for re-entry.

Should probably be 2 weeks more. London interview office is usually quite busy so you might need to wait a week or so but it should all be fine before your trip.

Thanks Jambo. I hope so. I will see if I can get my interview in Chelsford. I read soemwhere that they are probably less busy than London.

If you've applied on the 10th Aug then this is a quick turnaround to ask for more documents.

May be you should call them and see if everything is in order and also see if you can book the interview. I think you should get it well before the 10th of Sept.

Thanks 1664. I think I will give them a chance to look over my docs etc and perhaps give them a call on Monday.

Well, against my better judgement, I called the passport line today. Lady was extremely nice. Told me that they have the information they requested and that it will be reviewed in a few days. I can call in a few days to see if it has been reviewed and whether or not there were any updates.

This is my first time calling IPS. My experience was so good that I do not believe it was a government department. I have never been treated so well when talking to an government employee in the UK.

10 points for them :-)
