Hello Everyone,

I have been looking this forum for quite while and it seems to be good help for everyone. I would like to ask some questions and it would be great help to have answer for some questions.

My wife has ILR since sep 2010 and she is going to apply for British Citizenship next week. when she got her ILR, she was single and obviously her title was MISS. We got married April this year and she has all her documents with the same title i.e MISS. We didn't change her Title from MISS to MRS (and don't know how we should change it).

We are confused, what should we do?? As i am trying to fill the MN1 form for BC and don't know whether I should click the title MISS or MRS??

As we are married, and obviously we need to mention in her application that she is married and we should give all the information about Husband (me)????

1. Do we need to change her all the documents from MISS to MRS first? OR
2. is it OK to keep the title MISS whereas she is married?
3. Shall we lodge the application with MISS title and change all the documents and passport after getting her British passport?

Please Help.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

One doesn't need to do anything (other than marry) to be able to use the title - Mrs. Marriage certificate is sufficient.

This said, married ladies may still use Miss / Ms as their title. No compulsion to use Mrs!

Mrs. tells the world one is married. Ms is neutral about marital status (not necessarily meaning that one is not married).

Thank your for your prompt answer Sushdmehta, It would be great help, if you can answer some more questions?

1. So you reckon I can write the Title Miss in the section 1.4 of AN application form and I should tick the married box in section 1.15 of AN application form???

2. We got married in Pakistan and we have our marriage certificate in Urdu and English language. We didn't register our marriage here in UK and I have been told that we don't need to register our wedding in UK. In the partner detail section of AN application form, so i assume we need to mention all the information in AN application form. i.e. partner name, nationality, date and place of marriage etc. ???? (Please confirm).

Thank You,

Hi Sushdmehta and other seniors,

I got few more questions about AN form, can you guys please help?

Section 1: Personal Information

1.1 - Please Give previous immigration and nationality reference number?

Which reference number is this?? Is this the reference number which is on top right on PR sticker on passport???

1.3 - Please say when you were given indefinite leave to enter/remain in the UK.

Shall we need to fill this question? My wife is applying BC on the basis of a family member of an EEA (Her Dad is Belgium national.)

1.17 - Please provide your addresses for the past five years?

Do we need to provide all the addresses since she is here in UK or just last five year address is enough??

Section 3: Good Character Requirement

3.1 - What is your Occupation:

My wife is not working at all. She is housewife. Shall we just write that she is a HOUSEWIFE???

She was studying until 2010 and when she finished her studies, we got married, so essentially she has never worked. Shall we leave the question 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, and 3.5 blank???

Many thanks to all of you guys.
