One becomes free from Immigration time restrictions when one is granted settlement.

Hi,
Even I am confused with this. I am not married to british citizenship holder. I got my ILR in July 2011 after living here in uk for last 5 years. But now I am not sure that can I apply for citizenship now or will I have to wait for 12 months to apply for BC?

You will have to wait until you've held ILR for one year, meaning that you will only be eligible from July 2012.
