is there a qualifying period? like we have for ILR i.e 5 years

Not sure why you have posted this in the General UK Immigration section and not British Citizenship. See Standard requirements for naturalisation.

Your query was about British Citizenship so would've been better posted in the British Citizenship forum where you probably would've found the answer to your question anyway.
