Dear friends,
Me ,my husband and elder child (born in India) have got ILR in Sep 11.My younger child born in UK has got post MN1 "entitlement to register as british citizen " as she is 4years of age.If we were to go to India for a visit 3-4 weeks can my younger child travel with just the "certificate of entitlement" travel from Uk to India and back? Border check people on way back will accept the certificate and allow my child on her Indian passport?
OR I need to apply for her british passport definitely before going out of UK? Then if traveling to India as per current regulations will we need to get visa for her to travel to India ( as british passport ).

OR is there any alternative I am not aware of???

OIC and PIO etc cost more than getting a british passport.

Any help greatly appreciated,

Thanks in anticipation. :?

Have you actually applied using MN1 form and was it approved and you received a Registration Certificate from the HO? In that case, she is already a British Citizen and as far as I know, lost her Indian citizenship then as India doesn't allow dual nationality. You will need to get her a British passport, surrender the Indian passport and get a visa to travel to India.

If she is just entitled to register but you did not apply, then she is not British yet and you can not apply for a British passport.

Thanks for the reply,

Regarding British passport for minor child direct gov site route is suitable ?

Regarding British citizenship can I apply for british passport directly, when parents get ILR or we need to apply for MN1 first?
