Timing and Life in the UK test

Hi,
Is there a time limit to take the test Life in the UK?
For example does an applicant need to apply 3 or 6 months and not earlier than that, before they apply for BC?
Is it possible to take the test a couple of months after PR or does it have to be nearer the date of applying for BC?
