Hi there

I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me out.
I was born in 1989 to a mother who was born in Kent, England, but whom to this day has never claimed citizenship.

Can I apply for citizenship or British passport on these grounds?

In December last year/Jan this year, I was 100% sure I could, but looking around on uk goverment site, either this info has disappeared or something along those lines.

I was under the impression that I was sure to qualify if I was born after '83 to a British born mother, and that it was more complicated if you were born before '83. Though all I can find on topic is re: pre'83 born applicants with British mothers.

Would appreciate any help I can get. Governmental websites are confusing as hell.

Regards
Greg

As your mother was British otherwise than by descent when you were born, then you are automatically British (2(1)(a)).
