IPS holding my application for close to 2 months now

I have a real dilemma. I submitted application for british first passport on 09/02/12. In the application i included my foreign passport. I have travel plans for April 13.

Its almost 7 weeks now. They sent a 2 letters to my counter signatory and the letters never arrived. They then sent a letter to me saying they have rejected my counter signatory and that i should fill a new form with a new counter signatory. I did that and today they informed me that they have sent a letter to the new counter signatory. Just praying that it will arrive as this is taking way longer than i ever expected.

IPS is refusing to send back my foreign passport. With the Easter holidays just 2 weeks away im starting to be restless.

My question is: Can i withdraw this application and re-submit when i come back? And How can i force IPS to give me back my foreign passport? Also is it possible to postpone the passport interview until i get back first week of May?

Its a family gathering which i cant afford to miss

Has the new countersignatory receive the letter already? Has he sent it back to them? Once he sends the letter back, you should get your documents back in 7-10 days so should be fine for your travel.
