Question about child benefits

Post by fonali » Mon Jun 17, 2019 5:49 pm

Hello there,

I want to double check something about child benefits. I have never asked for it thinking I don't have the right to any public funds. However, it seems that there is an exception for citizens from certain countries mentioned here https://www.gov.uk/child-benefit-move-to-uk
I am referring to:
“You cannot claim Child Benefit if you’re subject to immigration control, unless you’re:
from Algeria, Morocco, San Marino, Tunisia or Turkey and working in the UK”

Could someone clarify/confirm if we can request child benefits without compromising future applications including ILR please?

Thanks

HI Fonali,

Have you received any feedback for your question about Child Benefit? I am asking because I am in the same situation. My nationality is in the exceptions list, but I am still not sure if applying to Child Benefit could negatively impact my future applications for ILR and Citizenship...? I am currently on Tier 2 General.

Thanks for sharing, if you have received a confirmation somewhere else.
