ILR: SET (O) -- SECTION 5 - YOUR HOME AND FINANCES???

Dear Chaps

Here I have a question regarding Section 5 - YOUR HOME AND FINANCES in SET (O) application form.

My wife and myself are renting a very expensive property, and the rental is just £300 less than my monthly salary after all the reduction (income tax, NI and other benefits). (My salary meets the appropriate rate defined by Home Office)

It seems without taking my wife's income into account, my financial status seems "not adequately maintain" our life. However, my wife is not applying for ILR dependent this time, so how should I let CW know the whole household income? Or, if I just put my salary there, does it really matter?

The form itself seems only caring about your income:

5.2 Do you or your partner, or both, pay any rent or mortgage for your home: YES

If so, how much do you pay each month: £ XXXX

5.3 Are you working in the UK: YES

If so, what is your pay each month after income tax and other deductions: £ XXXX+300

Can anyone help on this, please?

-- It shouldn't matter as long as you meet salary requirement . Benifits are related to income and not expanses. If you are still worried and contract is in joint name you can enter half of the rent.

Can I just put my wife income in Table 5.6 and bring her payslip with me just in case CW needs it?

It doesn't really matter . Salary requirement should me mate indepedently . You just enter your income and rent that you are paying . If questioned by CW you can produce salary slip of your wife and explain that expanses are being shared(It is very unlikely that CW will ask you any question on this) . Keep your application simple .

The answer is in 'YES' or 'NO' . it is not explicitly specified whether it is you , your partner or both . The implicit meaning is either you or your partner is in a condition to pay the rent . That said,You still need to meet salary requirement on your own . Hope it helps.
