Residence Card issued on A4 Paper.

Post by malistair » Mon Mar 31, 2014 2:59 pm

Hi

I recently rec'd my Blue Residence Card through the post on an A4 paper. I used to have EEA permit as my wife is Estonian. The residence card is valid for 10 yrs. However I need to travel within Europe (alone) and embassies have recently refused to issues visas's to people who hold Valid UK Visas's on A4 paper instead of being stamped within your passport or hold a biometric card.

Does anyone have any experience in this or how I can go about changing the silly A4 paper with an actual stamp in my passport, procedure, cost, timeline? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

A.

Where is your passport ? Did you asked for Passport back after EEA4 application ?

You need to send new EEA4 application with passport again and it can take upto 6 months. it's same like sending new application

You should your post in EEA thread not ILR UK thread

I have my passport with me. I did not ask for it back. I was refused initially and HO returned my passport along with docs. However after I appealed I was granted Residence permit which arrived in post 3 months after the appeal. I was never asked to send my passport back to the HO after they initially refused my Residence card application. So all I need now is to move that A4 paper visa onto my actual passport.

You said it's valid for 10 years.

As far i'm aware EEA2 residence card valid upto 5 years

it will take upto 6 months but can be sooner. depend on case worker

It doesn't say Family member/ EEA or any mention of EEA family member. It is permanent Residency. So 6 months to just put a stamp in my passport which has already been issued on an A4 paper?

In many countries the residence card is issued as a separate document (i.e. not a sticker in passport), and the European Commission has a strong view that this is preferable, because it is unclear what would be status of a residence card (or permanent residence card) that is still valid, but the passport to which it was attached has expired in the meantime.

Refer to http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/Lex ... FIN:EN:PDF and particularly paragraph 2.2.2:
The format of the residence card is not fixed, so Member States are free to lay it down as they see fit. However, the residence card must be issued as a self-standing document and not in form of a sticker in a passport, as this could limit the validity of the card in violation of Article 11(1).

Yes it is a new application. Can take between 15 days - 6 months. all depend on case worker
