do we need to live in a house for ILR?

Post by funkyronster » Tue Jul 15, 2014 4:29 pm

My Ukrainian wife and I were married in the UK over 2 years ago, and now it's time to apply for her ILR. We have been together all the time, never a single day apart.

But we have been traveling a lot. We are middle aged and I am retired with finances in excellent order.

6 years ago I put my stuff in storage and we have been spending winters in Asia, and summers living in a motorhome when in this country.

During all this time my address has been that of a relative, as needed for bank and insurances etc. We do occasionally stay with that relative, but not permanently.

We have never told a lie on any application.

My question is this - is our slightly unconventional lifestyle a bar to her ILR? She has passed all the tests.

My solicitor is raising an eyebrow - but I don't know whether it's because he has never come across a case like ours, or whether he just doesn't know the law.

Thanks
