job seeker allowance- contribution based from national insurance

Post by snooze light » Fri Mar 29, 2019 11:39 pm

good morning everyone,

i just want to ask if a "job seeker allowance- contribution based" can have a negative effect for my ILR application? it says, it is not a public fund and is different from income based JSA. im confused., my friend says that any kind of JSA will have an effect on my immigration status. im currently on tier 2 visa nearly 5 years.

thank you

Your friend is wrong. You will be fine.
Public funds do not include benefits that are based on National Insurance contributions. National Insurance is paid in the same way as income tax and is based on earnings. Benefits to which a person is entitled as a result of National Insurance contributions include:

•contribution-based jobseeker’s allowance
•incapacity benefit
•retirement pension
•widow’s benefit and bereavement benefit
•guardian’s allowance
•statutory maternity pay
