ILR SPOUSE

Post by Dale83 » Tue Feb 09, 2021 9:02 pm

Hi there

I have a spouse visa( 5 years route ).
Next step is to apply for ILR.
I wanted to use my cash savings to meet a financial requirement as I was told that I would need £34600
However some people told me that's wrong and I would need £62000 which I don't have.
Does anybody knows what amount of cash savings I need for ILR?

Thank you so much

£62500 if you are relying solely on cash savings.

For other combinations, Page 44:

Thank you for your reply

I'm even more confused now because it's written that for ILR I don't need to divide by 2.5

"At the indefinite leave to remain stage, the whole of the amount above £16,000 can
be used. And the following equation is to be used:
(x minus 16,000) = y"

34600 - 16000 = 18600

If you are applying for ILR and have £34,600 cash savings then you don't need any other income provided you meet the requirements specified for cash savings.

See p 44-45 of the financial requirements guidance

Thank you so much for your reply as I have been getting different answers from people around me.
Yesterday I talked to couple of lawyers and they also told me different answers which made me really stressed and confused.

It would be helpful if you could share the different answers you have been getting and the explanations given for them.

Couple of my friends told me that if I want to use savings to meet financial requirement I need to have £62500.
Friend of a friend told me that I need £40000.
Some people online told me £34600.

I emailed some lawyers and tried to ask but most of them wants you first to give them deposit before they will answer your questions. Usually they give you general information and once u start asking question they are moving to deposit and booking appointment ...but I had luck yesterday and decided to actaully call and not email.
One lawyer who has 6 years of experience said that I need £62000 And another lawyer which I think just opened her business told me £34600.

I suggest you to stop listening to the people around you or even lawyers. You need min £34,600 savings for the ILR stage. This is VERY clear as per the official guide.
Advice is given based on my personal research and experience only. Do NOT contact me via private message for immigration advice
