Application submission and Biometric UKVCAS appointment relationship

Post by aspirant910 » Tue Aug 20, 2024 8:31 pm

Is there any relationship between application submission and UKVCAS appointments ?
I had an application which i submitted on 6th August and submitted the withdraw form to cancel it on 8th August. Today i received an email with below information i.e after 14 days.
Reminder to enrol your Biometric information
When you made your application online, you were advised that you had up to 63 days from the date of your application to make an appointment to enrol your biometric information at a UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services centre (UKVCAS).
You have not yet booked or attended an appointment.
You now have 14 days from the date of this notification in which to book an appointment to enrol your biometric information.
I have not booked any biometric appointment for my new visa application which i have submitted on 11th August. Is there a requirement to book an appointment within 14 days whereas the form says you need to book an appointment by 16th Oct which is 63 days ?
Not sure why this email is sent and i assume similar email will be send for my new application after 14 days of submission .
Please note that my current leave expires on 27th August.

You get 45 working days. The official guide is very clear on this:
Individuals who make in-country applications must, in most circumstances, book an
appointment to enrol their biometric information within a specified period unless an
exemption or exception applies or they have used the UK Immigration: ID Check
app. Individuals will be informed to:

• make an appointment at a Service and Support Centre (SSC) within 15 working days
• make an appointment at a UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services (UKVCAS) location within 45 working days

Thanks Zumba .yes you are correct as always but why UKVi is sending these emails ?
Is it a flaw or shal I contact them as per email ?
If there are particular circumstances that mean you are unable to enrol your biometric information within the specified time frame, you must call 0300 123 2241 and explain why you are unable to attend. We may request more information and evidence about why you are unable to enrol your biometric information.

I contacted the UKVI helpline, but they were not helpful. They said they couldn't do much and advised me to reply to the same email, even though it's not monitored:
.

It's quite strange that they sent this email because, when I log in with my previous (withdrawn) application, I can still book a UKVCAS appointment 28 days in advance. I have not received any email regarding my cancelled/withdrawn application since I filled out the cancellation form on August 8th. Is there any other way I can request the cancellation, either by post or email?

My spouse has received ILR, so I believe she is fine. However, my new application is still pending as I have not yet submitted my biometric information. I did submit my application before my current leave expires ( 28th August) , so I believe this should not be a problem, even if my earlier (withdrawn) application is rejected/void.

Can you see the application reference number on the UKVCAS reminder email?

It almost certain that this reminder is referred to the withdrawn application, you just need to ignore it.

The online request is everything you need to do to cancel an application. The confirmation from a withdrawn application is not immediate, it can take several days or weeks to be received. No need to worry about this.

Book biometrics on the new application and it should proceed with no issues.

The email is very likely issued in error. This often happens
