I am completing the ILR application for my wife (spouse visa - 5 year route). In the English Language section, the first question is "Have you provided evidence of your English language ability in a previous application?" I have answered yes, as in her last application we used my wife's PhD, which was done in the UK. After selecting yes, it says, "Tell us the previous visa, entry clearance or leave to remain you had" so I have put details of the visa, but it does not ask for details of the English qualification.
The next question in the English Language section is, "Have you passed an approved English language test?" Do I select yes for this because the PhD counts as an English language test because it is is being used as evidence? If so, do I then select yes to the follow up question of "Did the test assess your speaking and listening skills at a level equivalent to CEFR B1 or higher?" and finally answer Certificate as the answer to "How did you get your result?" and then upload a copy of the PhD certificate as evidence?
Sorry if this seems obvious, but I am concerned about answering yes in case that only means taking one of the specific English tests rather than using a degree, although if I answer no to "Have you passed an approved English language test?", the follow up questions are only about exemptions, not an alternative source such as a degree.
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
