Work permit/HSMP combo - eligibility for ILR

Post by sabatobat » Tue Nov 03, 2009 4:35 pm

I came to the UK on a working holiday visa in April 2003. I was then sponsored by my then employer onto a work permit which began in May 2005. I went onto another employer in October 2005 on a work permit. I then went on HSMP in March 2008. My current HSMP expires in March 2010. I got made redundant in March 2009, so I have no income to get enough points to apply for renewal in March 2010.

The problem is I'm eligible for ILR in May 2010 but I need to be legally in the country between March 2010 and May 2010. I'm currently unemployed and so that won't make me eligible for Tier 1. Also, in the current job market, most employers don't want to sponsor and go the Tier 2 route. But I was wondering if I managed to convince someone to hire me under Tier 5 for a charity, for March - May. Will I be eligible to apply for ILR in May 2010?
