180 days absent from UK rule: departure & arrival days

I'm interested in getting more information of the 180 day out of country cap.

Specifically can somebody point me towards the UK Home Office document that outlines whether to count departure and arrival days in the total?

I currently have a bit over a year until I can apply for ILR and am now wary about counting days.

I currently have 145 days out of country inclusive of depature and arrival days. This includes time away for work purposes.

I have 90 days out of country if departure and arrival days do not count. Again this includes time away for work puposes.

As I've apparently taken quite a few short trips, these departure and arrival days may prove rather meaningful for me.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You don’t need to count arrival and departure days.

Is that just a known thing or is it documented someplace?

I've been searching the UK Home Office site and cannot find mention of it anywhere.

A - Absences are counted in "whole days". Day(s) of departure and arrival are not to be included when calculating (total) days of absence. Bank / public holidays and weekends are to be included in absences if one was absent from UK on such days.
