Urgent - Re ILR SET (O) Section 5.5 - Child tax credit

Hi All,

I am applying for ILR on 30th May at Cryodon. I have a doubt about following -

Section 5.5 Are you receiving any public funds?

I am a contractor through my limited company and my wife who is on dependent visa is full time employed. We both have availed child care vouchers.

For myself the childcare vouchers are paid as company expense. My accountant has said that it is not part of salary or benefits as well.

So my question is whether I should be ticking Yes for the above section and then tick the Child Tax Credit below? And will it make my ILR application weak by any chance?

Any kind of help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks very much in advance.

John wrote:The vouchers are not provided by the Government, they are provided by your employer, so they cannot possibly be Public Funds. So there cannot possibly be a "No recourse to Public Funds" problem.
So why would you answer "yes" to the question ... unless you are receiving any of the named "public funds".

No I dont receive any other "Public Fund".

However when I realised today that the Child Tax Credit is one of the options below 5.5, I was in a dilemma because the tax credit via childcare vouchers could be seen as indirect usage of "Public Fund" as you save tax on the the allowed childcare expenses.

If it is not a part of Public Fund then why it has made it to the list in the first place:?: :!:

Ticking No is easy for me, but if the case worker finds it out during the interview and objects to it then I dont want to get into a tricky situation :)

Child tax credits and childcare vouchers are not the same thing.

Thanks a lot Greenie! After reading what is tax credit in more details it seems like Govt gives you money for childcare if you are low income family. And I think immigrants are not even eligible for it.

Thanks to sushdmehta as well!

Lets see how the appointment goes. I will share my experience.
