191 Days can I apply in person for same day?

Hi,
Thanks in advance for your help.
I am living in london and have 5 years where I was full time employed throught.
I have 191 days abroad. The main reason was I was on gardening leave due to redundancy for 21 days (the company paid me but did not require me to come to work) so I went abroad for this period. I have documents to prove this. All the rest are annual leave.
I have read that if it is over 180 days it needs to go to a senior caseworker to process so cannot be done over the same day service? Could someone clarify this as I do not have much time to leave my passport with the home office.
Regards,
Arj
