Waiting for ILR....New job

Hi Guys

We submitted our application SET (O) on 10/6/12, acknowledgement 13/6/12, Biometrics dated 27/7 was received on 6/8/12 and done the same day.

I lost my previous job 17th July and luckily was interviewed for a much better one on the 31st and was offered the job and was meant to start next Monday the 20th.

I wasn't asked about my visa all through the process, so I didn't mention it. However, was asked yesterday, have asked employer to do a checking service which will not be ready till 5 working days. My employer will be going on leave at the end of next week and will not be back till some time next month. I was suppose to cover for him, and now he's said he cant allow me start before he receives the confirmation from Home Office.

I've heard some people who status could not be confirmed by Employer's Checking, I just hope these guys are able to confirm mine....or with some luck, my approval letter appears before then. I'd be gutted if I loose this job I have worked so hard to secure after 3 interviews.

Your employer cannot fire you or makes you start late. Sue him for financial damages if he/she indeed fires you. Educate your employer about the below link

I have done, but they're been very cautious and I cant really blame them. The employers checking people didnt appear to be of much help to them i.e they were not ready to give any assurances, just told him to wait for their email.

Thanks

I dont think I have any leg to stand on in this case. He's been in contact with them, and they weren't very helpful.

Update...

My new employer has just sent an email to say he has been given a one year certificate to employ me. He'd use my driving license as ID instead of my passport.

Now, I can just go ahead with my life and let UKBA send my ILR when they are ready.

Thanks for your support guys.
