does time spent on Tier2(Gen) counts towards the 10 year ILR

Hi,
I am seeking some advice.
Next year I will reach my 9 years in the uk (Continuous and Legal) and I am basically short of 1 year to get my 10 year ILR. I have the choice to apply for a Tier 2 (General) or go back to being a student.
I am currently working and would most likely prefer to continue work and get a Tier 2 visa. However, I read a while ago that time spent on Tier 2 (General) will no longer counts towards the 10 years ILR? Can someone please let me know if this is true? Is my only option to go back being a student to get the 10 years?
Thank you for your help.
