Parking Charges and ILR

Hi, I am posting this question on behalf of my friend. He has sent his SET (0) (Long Residence) form recently. The question is: will any unpaid parking charges effect his application? The story might sound silly but this is life and people doing strange things when they are young, but still... The story is the following. Back in 2003 he has sold his car to one of his friends. Unfortunately that person did not send the paperwork to DVLA. Much later (after a year or so) my friend found out that the car was evacuated for breaching the parking regulations. The person who had the car at that moment has left the country long time ago so it is unclear under which name was the car at the moment of evacuation and the parking charges issued. My friend did not drive since (he has foreign driving licence which he could use just for 1 year since arrival) so he did not have any contacts with DVLA and he changed his address since than so if any letters from DVLA were sent they were sent to his old address. Will any unpaid parking charges effect his application and is it possible to find out if there were any parking charges or court proceedings for not paying parking charges in my friend's name? Thanks

1. It is the seller's responsibility to notify DVLA https://www.gov.uk/notifying-dvla-if-yo ... ur-vehicle

2. The case might have evolved into more than just unpaid parking fines. Better check with DVLA with any outstanding liabilities. Otherwise these little things might come to haunt later.

Also check for any CCJ's issued against you since the parking tickets were issued long time ago and it's possible that council opt for county court judgment against you for fines.

Could you clarify please what is CCJ's and how to check them? I found this https://www.gov.uk/county-court-judgmen ... dit-rating and this http://www.trustonline.org.uk/search-yourself/ . Is this what you mean? Should he do a CRB check as well? He did not do anything wrong, but just in case... We understand it is a little bit too late for all that as the application is already sent, but one of our friends got BC application refused on grounds of that and also got 10 years ban for not mentioning in application form, that he had a court... So it is better to lose some money than another 10 years of time.

There are many sites offering CCJ checks. Report should have any county court judgment issued against your friend.
