what i did was i got a photocopy of my passport stamped by the post office document identity checking service. they put a stamp on the photocopy saying original sighted and that its a true copy.

will this suffice as proof of id legally to get a driving license while my passport is processed for ilr?

you cant apply for license as DVLA does not accept photocopies and secdonly it is clearly written on DVLA site that they will not issue license while immigration application is under consideration

You would probably get that reply if you posted a visa question on a motorclub.

now this is the kind of reply i was looking for! thanks safdar bhai. now i was looking at citizencard or any other card approved by PASS. do you think one of those would do? also could you tell me where exactly on dvla site it says they wouldnt issue license when application is under consideration?
