When you are counting absent days from the UK for ILR, do the departure and arrival dates count as dates in the UK or away?

For example, if you left the UK on Jun 1st and came back on Jun 3rd, is that 1 day away or 3 days away?

This question has been answered many times in the forum and is also explained clearly on the sticky (see question 17). Anyways...the day(s) of departure and arrival are not to be included when calculating (total) days of absence.
