Dear members,

I am have a 5 year work permit visa since 2009. I have not changed to tier system. My friend tells me that I am not eligible to apply for ILR since I have not changed to a Tier system. My understanding is that I am eligible. Can you please clarify.

Incorrect. Please read the FAQ for ILR (http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=79378) to begin and then the SET(O) form and guidance on the UKBA website for further specific information.

I am on 5 yr work permit too and havent changed it to Tier 2 as you dont need to.

You will be eligible to apply for ILR after 4yrs 11 months from the date your work permit started/started working with your employer
