Can I apply under a different category if WP ILR fails?

Hi,
I am about 6 months away from the end of 5 years under a work permit.
I have spent the entire time with the same employer in the same role and they are happy for me to continue to be employed with them.
About 1 month ago I married a UK citizen, we have also been living together for nearly 2 years.
I can apply for ILR under my work permit in June.
Or I can apply now for FLR as a spouse and then wait another 5 years before applying for ILR as a spouse.
What should I do?
If my ILR application under the work permit fails can I then apply for FLR as a spouse?
Or can I apply for FLR now as a spouse and then apply for ILR under the work permit in June if I still meet all the other conditions?
