I am well below the limit. I was away for 68 days in 5 years from UK. 1 week being for my child birth. UKBA specifically said that they require personal letter explaining the reason in case it is compassionate. Again they said birth certificate can be one of the proofs for compassionate reason. But they did not specifically say if child birth comes under compassionate reason. Would like to know if I have to provide personal letter with this reason as compassionate leave.

In my opinion you don't need to specify as compassionate reason.
I would simply say "family visit" as the reason for absence related to your child birth.

Given the number of days involved, there is no need to complicate the matter. Keep it simple.

so does that mean I do not have to mention that I was away for child birth or say it is for child birth but not a compassionate?
