Where do we start.....

My partner has been in this country for five years now, he entered with no visa, hes white south african. We have now been toghether 4 year and I have 2 children who consider him their step dad, we do not earn much money, but cant bear the thought of being apart.... oh and to top it off, his passports run out...... who do we turn to, he really wants to become legal here........HELP
