ILR Success - Croydon Feb 22 - Tier 1 (General)

I was granted ILR earlier today at Croydon PEO. I would like to thank this forum and the seniors for making the process extra easy!

My experience (for an 8am appointment)...

0745 Arrived and went straight through security. There were not many people around at all yet. Had documents (application form, BRP, passport & previous passport) briefly checked. Only question that I did not expect to get here was the lady asked if I had any P60's or letters from the employer with who I originally entered (as I was no longer employed by that firm, and had originally arrived on WP). I did indeed bring my P60's just in case so this was easy to provide. Received token with my number and directed to the payment area.

0755 Paid, had to wait 1-2 minutes whilst they processed person in front of me

0810 One of the first people to be called to desk to check documents. Was asked for same documents as before as well as the payment receipt. On reviewing documents, was handed them back and directed to the Biometrics area. First person here for Biometrics, asked a couple of questions and taken biometrics. Straight forward and finished by about 0825. Directed to second floor.

0855 First person to be called up to counter on second floor. Not sure the reason for the holdup but possibly that they don't like to start this process before 0900 as once I was called everyone else was called very very quickly as well to the other counters. The man asked for all my documents which I handed over. He then asked if I had copies which I also then handed over. He asked me to take a seat and expect to be called back in 30 min.

0930 Called back to counter and told my ILR was granted and given letter to take with me as well as handed back all original documents (apart from BRP which was destroyed)

In terms of documents that I provided:
1. Application form
2. 2 photos
3. Current Passport + copies of pages
4. Previous Passport + copies of pages
5. BRP
6. Life in the UK + copy
7. Confirmation of employment and earnings letter from employer + copy
8. 12 payslips + copies
9. Bank statements + copies
10. Signed print out of days outside of the UK + copy

I think straight forward. Absences were 300 in total but none over 90 days and no single year over 180.

Hi marsenal

have you specified number of days away( 300 in your case) in the same absence sheet? or did the case worker counted total number of days away on his own from the departure & arrival dates you provided?

If you know the number of days better write it in the "reason for absence" column along with the reason. I didn't write the number of days but the case worker asked me to write it.

I have total absences more than 300 but nothing more than 90 days single absence & not more than 180 days in any calendar year. I am on HSMP+Tier1. Just wanted to know where to mention that I was not away more than 180 days in any calendar year. Or leave to case worker to count on his own with the dates provided

I wrote Something like this in Section 6.2

Date left the UK | Date returned to the UK | Reason for absence
19/05/2008 | 23/05/2008 | Holiday in Holland

The case worker asked me write the number of days so I changed it to

Date left the UK | Date returned to the UK | Reason for absence
19/05/2008 | 23/05/2008 | Holiday in Holland (3)

Congratulations. Well done. Were you not asked for P60s,for 5 years by the CW.?

Hi guys, I did something similar to this. I included the number of day as well as having a summary table showing number of days in total for each year split by work days and annual leave days.
In addition I did tick "yes" at D2 and wrote the following for D3: NO SINGLE ABSENCE OVER 3 MONTHS. ABSENCES HAVE BEEN THROUGHOUT THE 5 YEARS FOR WORK AND PAID ANNUAL LEAVE. EACH YEAR LESS THAN 180 ABSENCES IN TOTAL

No I was only asked for a P60 or letter from my initial employer at the very first check (before payment is taken). I showed the lady a P60 for the 2008/09 year (my first one).
I had all the others but did not give them (or even this one) to the CW.

Thank you. I thought that P60 is a requirement for Tier 1. Some people give all the documents they carry to CW and get into unwanted problems. It is definitely required for Tier 2.

In the form at question 6.2 I wrote "DETAILS PROVIDED ON SEPARATE SHEET". Then on separate sheet I first provided a table with the following headings:
Year; Date From; Date To; Annual Leave Days; Work Trip Days; Total Days

Then following this table I had another one more detailed with the following headings:
Date Left the UK; Date Returned to the UK; Reason for Absence; Type of trip; Days away

I don't think P60 is a requirement for Tier 1 ILR route. I only brought them because I was paranoid reading some of the stories on here. I was only going to show it if required hence why I did not give to CW. I was, however, surprised that I was asked for some proof originally for my employer for WP. So in that sense I was happy that I was prepared, but imagine that it would have been fine even if I did not have this.
