We went today for our brother in law visa as flr m and he got it on the desk and the lady told him that he can apply set m after he received flr m Id card meaning spouse Id card
Give u little history my sister was student and she recently got indefinite on 10 years long residence and husband is here on student dependent from last six years .
Want to ask about my wife can we apply set m my wife will be very soon getting flr m and she was on tier 1 dep visa and she sent hers with me I got.ilr now on long residence and waiting for hers and married over 2 years.
Please let me know she already done liuk

Under the old rules, you apply for set(m) after 2 years flr(m) unless you were eligible for some other ilr before I.e, 10 years residency.

The new rules require 5 years flr(m) for set(m). The old rules give transitional protection to those who already had stay before July 2012.

My question is my when he applied on the desk he was student dependant and my sister was student after 10 years my sister got long residency while he was student dependant he than made flrm in the desk the lady told him after receiving bio card he can apply for set m no need to wait 2 years is that because he was student dependant from last six years?
I am asking this because my wife visa is due back she will get flrm before he was tier 1 dependant and we been married 2 year now when she get flrm can she apply set m straight
