BRP only proof of ILR?

Hi Everyone,

I will appreciate if someone can please clarify this. I applied for my wife's ILR in January and we sent our application through Checking service in manchester. All our original documents i.e. my british passport, my wife's pakistani passport etc were returned to us and only the original application form and photocopies of all other documents were sent. My wife's ILR application has been approved and she received her biometric card in the post on yesterday 28/3/13 (I am actually surprised that it only took around 8 weeks!!!). My question is that there is only one other letter sent from UKBA to inform that the application has been granted for ILR and that letter came separate to the BRP card. so is this card the only proof for her that she has ILR now??? As there is nothing in her passport to say she has been given ILR, is this normal???

I will really appreciate anyone who might know this to reply to my message.

Regards,

My wife got a letter stating that the documents are sent back to her and wait for BRP card. It never said the application was successful. we got a card stating ILR. You are lucky to have a letter to say your application was successful

Yeah, as i mentioned in my question, we did receive a letter from UKBA to inform that the application has been approved and that we should also receive our BRP. But the BRP arrived one day before this letter, may be a delay in the post???

But my question is that apart from this BRP, is there no other physical indication i.e. something on the passport to say that ILR has been granted? only the letter of approval and BRP does the job???

Thanks

Thanks for your reply to my message.
Yes we are very lucky that whole process completed in under 6 weeks and now myself, my wife and our baby can now live without fear of being separated!!!! :)
I will again mention here that the letter which we received from UKBA did arrive AFTER the BRP card and it stated that we should receive our card in different post (which happened as stated) and also it stated that my wife's application for ILR has been approved. So i gues nothing will be placed/attached to her passport like old days??? infact her original passport was never sent to UKBA as i did use checking service for our application.

Thanks again.

UKBA don't endorse passports anymore for in country applications. Your wife only needs the BRP which states ILR / Settlement from now on and will need to produce the BRP with her passport for employment etc.
