Dear Gurus,

My wife needs to attend KET English test for the spouse visa. UKBA website has contradictory information regarding the test modules. Can anyone please guide me with this please that if she needs to attend all four : -

Please advise. Thank you.

What is involved in taking the KET exam?

KET has three papers:

Reading and Writing (1 hour 10 minutes):
You will need to be able to understand simple written information such as signs, brochures, newspapers and magazines. You will also have to fill gaps in simple sentences and write a short piece of around 25 words.

Listening (approx. 30 minutes):
You need to show your ability to understand announcements and other spoken material when spoken reasonably slowly.

Speaking (up to 10 minutes):
You will need to demonstrate you can take part in a conversation by answering and asking simple questions. Speaking tests are normally held with two candidates.

Thank you for the reply. My wife is applying from India. The test centre(British council) she needs to appear in provides test only in Listening and Speaking. I have also checked Home office website which indicates that the applicant needs to only show pass results in these two.

Please see the below para from UKBA website:-

I have taken a test at level A1 which tested reading and writing as well as speaking and listening skills. I passed speaking and listening but failed to reach A1 in reading and writing. Can I still use this test?
Providing you can demonstrate you have passed in speaking and listening at Level A1 with one of the approved test providers you can use this evidence. We are only using tests which can show separate scores for speaking and listening skills

Still I am bit skeptical about this reason wanted to get advise from someone.

Thank you.
