ILR for Tier 2 ICT - SOC code in employer's letter

Hi,
I have a question on this. There is divided opinion on if the old SOC code will work. My employer is ok to give either one or the other. However my COS contains the old SOC code and employer thinks that it need not be updated. I know a friend in my company who used old SOC code and got ILR approve.
Any opinions and past cases to prove this?
