I applied for set(LR) on 31st May 2013 and received my acknowledgement letter dated 4th June 2013 yesterday.
I was searching here if i could find how long does set(LR) normally take to process, but couldn't find a single thread. So I thought, why not start a new thread to discuss issues, application progresses and success stories regarding set(LR) application.
I hope this thread will be beneficial to somebody somewhere in the future.

Well, let me start the thread with my own story.

I completed 10 years in 20th of April 2013. I was almost ready to sent my application on 30th March. I had filled out set(O) and all the docs were ready. But I got redundant and had to leave my job in early April. So I delayed my application to look for another job as i couldn't risk being unemployed for up to 6 months. Hence, I postponed my application. My current visa run out later this year, so i was in the safe side.

By the time i found a stable job, it was almost the end of May. At the mean time, Home Office introduced set(LR) in early April. So I had to fill the new form (once again!). But the new form was a lot simpler and easy to fill.

As I have all my previous passports, the only documents i submitted were
1) application form set(LR)
2) Passport (current and old)
3) Biometric Card
4) Photographs (2 copies, name printed at the back and sealed in an envelop)
5) Life in the UK test certificate
6) Bank statement (1 months, not required, I included it just in case they bothered to see it)

That's it!

I would have appreciated your reply if it was regarding set(LR), not set(O) or specsavers...

Doubt that the time to process Long residence applications will differ much due to the change of form, from SET(O) to SET(LR).

Hello Guys,

I am planning to send my application this week for SET (LR) under 10 yrs student.Here is my situation

I came as visitor in 21 June 2003.Then switch visa to student until now.I traveled three times came back within 30 days.In 2008 visa was rejected and all documents was returned back to me. Then i had to re-submit with my progress report on time.(within 28 days)
Currently visa expires July 2015.I am sending these doc:
1) SET (LR) application form with MasterCard payment details
2) My current and previous Passport
3) Biometric Residence Permit Card
4) 2 Passport Size Photographs
5) Life in the UK Test (Pass Notification Letter )
Prepaid Self Address Envelope

Hopefully everything goes well....Please guide me throu if I am missing something. Thanks you guys...

Most recent time line for long residence in this forum was as below.
Application - SET(O)
Application date: 07/01/13.
Approval date: 07/05/13.

Due to form change Im also expecting Time line for SET(LR) should be less than use to be before.(< 6 months). Figures crossed..

yes I have heard that its about 3-4 months now, let see.

Hurray!!

After a long wait of about 5 months, my documents and Biometric Card finally arrived on 28th of Oct (Mon). Biometric card actually arrived on 24th Oct (Thu), but it was returned by the courier service as there was none at home to receive it. My passport and other documents were dropped by first class post on 26th Oct (Sat).

For all your reference, here is my application history:
