Masters Degree from UK - English Language Requirement

Hi,

I am bit confused about the new rules that would (probably) be in place from 28/10/2013.

I recently graduated in MS (Masters) from University of Liverpool,England. It was through online mode.

My question - Can I use this degree for English language requirement without any additional document/s?

Alternatively, could I still use my bachelors degree cert along with a letter from the University which states my degree education has been in English for KOLL requirement? I have used this for my initial application and for extension to claim points for English language.

PS: I have passed LIfe in the UK test.

So if the degree was awarded by the UK, only the statement of comparability would be required or possibly a print out from the PBS calculator along with the original degree certificate. You do not need to prove it was taught in English as that presumption exists.

Hi Shivcs
My situation is the same I have also done my masters from university of Birmingham,UK. As we have previously satisfied the requirement I dont think we need to do that again. My personal view is as we have the masters degree from UK we do not need statement of comparibilty from UKNARIC? We would need it if our degree was overseas degree. any views?

Hi,

I would presume, the Statement of Comparability is not required. My concern is will UKBA consider online degree to be same as a regular degree?

Degree certificate doesn't mention anywhere that it was an online course and I graduated in the same ceremony where regulars graduated from.

As I now understand, NARIC cannot compare a UK degree, I think it's a mistake in the rules. Just the UK degree whether online or not, from a UK university should suffice.

Degree is degree, it wouldn't even say on the certificate if tutorial was delivered online, how then would the UKBA know what sort it is?

The issue is the rules say deemed by NARIC which, I think is an error.
