Hi

We (me and my wife) are applying for ILR after 28th Oct, on the basis of 5 Years Work permit.

We passed life in the uk test.

With regards to new English language requirement :

1) I have Master's Degree (MSc) from UK University, is this fine for me ?

2) My Wife has a 4 year Bachelors Degree in Engineering from India and We obtained a letter from the University to say that the degree has been taught in English, is this sufficient or do we need any thing else in this regard, please?

Any informative answers will be very helpful guys

Yes the institute is recognised by points based calculator as I ran the calculator to see if it picks up the Univ/course details and gives points.

But I think its more prudent to get a "NARIC statement of comparability"

I have degree taught in English. Also I fulfilled English Language requirement during Tier 2 ICT extension application using degree certificate. Do I still need to get a "NARIC statement of comparability" ?

My previous statement was incorrect. You do need some proof from NARIC.

But based on the new booklet an published by UKBA, I think "English Language Assessment" is the document to acquire from NARIC, not the "NARIC statement of comparability".

Sorry, didn't realise your post was about ILR application. But I would think the language requirement should be the same.

The issue if that the English Language Assessment is for Bachelor degrees only so what about those with overseas Masters and PhDs?

I believe they will still need to have statement of comparability (for overseas degrees) and
a proof that their degree has been taught in english

The statement of comparability won't specify the course was taught in English:

and from what I heard, NARIC only English Language Assessment on the undergraduate level. This is consistent to when I was applying for HSMP. (can only use undergraduate degree to proof English level, not post-graduate degree)

I found it annoying that even though I already proved my English level when I applied for HSMP, I still need to prove it again. And I need to apply for certificates from NARIC which I didn't have to do before.

I am now considering the English test as an easier alternative...

My situation is exactly same as yours.
UK Degree for me and Degree in India for my Wife.
I have applied for statement of comparibility for her along with letter from university stating the degree was taught in english. Hope it helps

I tried to get ELA some months ago and all they can tell its level C1 or not. So I got wording like your degree taught in English doesn't meet C1 standard. Its not mentioning any other level so sort-of useless from UKBA point-of-view.

NARIC these days seems to be busy,
Does any one how fast they are in dealing with these queries.
