ILR Query ( 8 years / 8 months) Is it practically possible?

Would i be able to apply for my ILR within a period of 8 years and 8 months... I have been in the UK lawfully... I have been out of the country on a holiday for a maximum of 45 days or less... I am currently on Tier 2 (general) but initially when I came into the country I was a student; successfully completed my Bachelors/Master degree and then went onto apply for my PSW visa.

The reason for this question is that I am currently on a Tier 2 visa (general) and that the company that i am currently working for; will have to handover by the end of this year by which I ain't quite sure, if the new company that is taking over would suffice in renewing my sponsorship (transferring my sponsorship).

If not, would I be able to have my wife to apply for a Tier 4 Student visa (Currently on Tier 2 (dependant) )and then become a dependant to fulfill my 10 year on slot? My wife intends to study anyways, and hence I have raised this question?

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!!

In theroy itself you can't apply under the long term category just after 8 years / 8 months . Your company is going to handover by year end(Which is almost a year from now) why don't you try to find a new sponser .
