SET(M) evidence of cohabitation for spouse

Post by needhelpsetmabz » Sat Aug 09, 2014 9:03 am

Hi, I'm really worried. I am currently filling out the SET(M) form and when I came to the evidence of cohabitation section it said I needed 6 letters covering the two years. This is all I have for my wife so far.

Y2 09.13

What I am worried about is that there are only two letters for year 1 (she came to the UK on the 25.08.12). I should be getting another letter for my wife, I'm registering her to vote and should get some sort of letter for her. I have more then enough letters for me. Is this enough evidence to cover her evidence of cohabitation for spouse?

For every 4 months of the last 2 years, there should be one joint letter or a letter each from at least 3 different sources. Get the GP to confirm the dates of any appointments and the address of registration that'll help.

Hi, thank you. She has her LitUk test tomorrow so I'll see how she does. I'll contact the GP tomorrow and ask for a letter to say what the address is and when we opened the account. Thank you Amber.

This is the last letterImage

would these six be enough even though there is a gap from 12/2012 to 8/2013 and from 11/2013 to 7/2014?

8-12 to 12-12-->NHS
01-13 to 4-13-->
4-13 to 8-13-->HSBC
9-13 to 12-14-->NHS and DVLA
01-14 to 4-14-->
5-14 to 8-14-->NHS

That letter isn't written very well. It should say x has been registered at our practice since y date. The registered address was z. During this period there have been a number of medical appointments when x attended the practice as a patient. Or something along those lines.

Unfortunately the doctor takes a few days to write the letter, this one took about 5 days. In the blacked out area it does have the name, address and date of birth. I would try and get a new letter asap. If I can't would these 6 (with the time gaps) be enough for this Wednesday?

Hi Amber; I got a bit of similar issue here but what do you mean by joint letter here? . is that a letter which addressed to both husband and wife names ?

I have about than 7 letters which are on both of us names and covering the 2 years period. these are council tax bills, housing association rent bills and Inland revenue letters .. are these will enough or shall I send some more letters which address to my wife only??

looking forward to your reply.

You should be ok.

A joint letter is one addressed to both persons.

Thank you SO much Amber! My wife had her appointment today and it all went well. Just a quick question, when I got home I noticed that a lot of the papers were missing:
the main application;
photocopies of payslips and P60 of only ONE of my two jobs;
photocopies of the B1 and LitUK certificates;
photocopies of letters of my wife and me;
original photos;
photocopies of my and my wife's passport;
and two letters for Note8 on page 31.

Am I right to assume that it is normal for them to be kept with the HO?

They gave me back:
my bank statements (original and photocopies);
P60 and pay slips for my 2nd job (original and photocopies);
my marriage certificate (original and photocopies);
the original letters;
the original payslips and P60 of only ONE of my two jobs;
the original the B1 and LitUK certificates;
and passports.

Did they not need my marriage certificate and bank statements?

Thanks again Amber.
