Hello,
My husband applied for FLR (spouse) nearly two years ago. He submitted the Trinity College London, Grade 2 Graded Examination in Spoken English, Entry Level Certificate in ESOL International (Speaking and Listening)(Entry 1), A1 of the CEFR.

We are now just preparing the documents for Indefinite Leave to Remain and on the list of Secure English Language Tests it says for this certificate - "For UK immigration purposes, the tests are valid for 2 years only".

The dates on the certificate say: English Exam Centres - March 2012. Certificate Issued April 2012.

Does he need to take another test? The earliest he can apply for ILtoR is end on Jan 2015.

Thanks.

Regardless of whether the test has a expiry date or not will be irrelevant in your husband's case as the English requirements for ILR is higher.

For ILR, a Level B1 of the CEFR is required. This is equivalent to ESOL Entry Level 3 or Trinity GESE Grade 5.

The A1 tests cannot be used as they are below the standard for ILR so your husband will need to take the test to achieve Level B1 English.

In addition to this, LIUK is also required if not already done so.

Thanks so much WR1 for clarifying that.
