Re-entering UK on ILR child passport close to expiry

Hi,

I am on ILR along with my spouse and child.

My child's passport (Indian) is expiring in mid-June.

We will be traveling out of the UK for about a month in April, and planning to return in early May.

Can I apply for renewing my child's passport in the UK AFTER our return to the UK?

At the time of our return from our travel abroad in early May, my child's passport will have only 5-6 weeks validity.

Will this be a problem during re-entry into the UK?

No. You will be fine, as long as the passport/visa is valid on the day you enter the UK

BTW, is there any reference to UKBA/Border Control/Home Office rules which detail this?
