Havn't received Aknowledgement letter

I have applied for ILR SET o on 2nd of September 2015, money was deducted from my account but still its been 12 days but I have not received any acknowledgement letter with application reference number. My visa expires today on 14th Sept and I have to forward that letter to my employer to stay in the job. Not sure if this is common as what I have seen in postal application in various blogs, acknowledgement letter do comes in 3-6 days.
