NTL/ Criminal record - Student (Help Please)

Hello, I am currently a student who is also seeking work. I have an expired passport with Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK. I would like to apply for my visa to be transferred to a residents permit (NTL) but I have fears it might get rejected as I have committed a couple of offences in the past with the sentence for one of them currently unspent. I need a residents permit (NTL) as proof of right to work in the UK as I have been refused numerous job offers due to my inability to provide one.
Could you please advise me on the likelihood of my application being successful, Regards

NTL is just confirmation of
ILR.
Were the unspent
convictions relevant to the grant of ILR at the time?

Nope, I've had ILR for almost 9 years and only just had the convictions since april this year (2015). I have been told by potential employers that I couldnt be offered a job since my passport is out of date, leaving me only with the option to apply for a NTL BRP due to my current immigration status (ILR) and also applying within the UK. Just wondered if the unspent sentence would affect my application. Cheers

If your convictions are not serious enough to warrant
deportation, then your
ILR shouldn't be revoked.
