I have a query regarding English requirement for ILR(I have read the sticky note but still i am not clear)

1) I got my initial hsmp approval letter using "medium of instruction/degree taught in english letter" from my university
2) I used calculator for Tier 1 G extensions and mentioned that evidence already provided for english.
3) Now for ILR, apparently there is no calculator nor there is no option of evidence already provided. I applied for english comparision letter for NARIC for my university and NARIC mentioned that it is B1.

Question:
a) if this Naric letter of B1 (got few months back) can be used for ILR (Tier1 G route)? ==> if yes then NARIC letter + university letter should be ok ?
or
b) I have to take English exam again as per new requirement?

Any other comment?

Yes UK NARIC statement is sufficient. You can also submit the letter from university if you wish although it is not needed.

Overseas qualifications:

It is yet unknown whether ELA / SOC statements obtained from NARIC before 06-Apr-2016 can be used to support an ILR application on / after 06-Apr-2016 or whether applicants must now include statements obtained through the newly launched NARIC Visa and Nationality Service.

Geriatrix agree with your point. I have spoken to both Naric and home office. Naric agent mentioned that there is an overlap period of up to 3 months where even ELA/SOC can be accepted. But he mentioned the disclaimer that it is up to home office and he is not an immigration advisor.

Home office agent said that it ELA/SOC has details from Naric only so will be accepted.

It looks like ELA/SOC will be fine in this transitional period but I am still not 100% sure. Waiting for fellow members who have applied post 5th April to share their experiences.

Just wanted to share - I too have got ELA from NARIC last week and will be applying for ILR next week. Hence was wondering if I can use this ELA or do I need to apply for new service launched on 6th April for English Language Assessment. Hence I called NARIC this morning and the gentleman on the line informed that there is a three month period kept from 6th April 2016 and during this period ELA will be accepted as normal.

Get that in writing, through email.

If the caseworker refuses to accept the "old" ELA/SOC, the excuse "someone on the phone at UKV&I helpline said there's 3 month transition period" may not work in helping you save your hard-earned ££££. But an email might help offer a more persuasive argument ...

What is the mail address to clarify this. I sent a mail to workoperationalpolicy@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk but have not received a reply. During my experience was very good and I received reply in couple of days from this mail id hence not sure if this mail id is still usable.

I found the following mentioned in the the KoLL guidance:

Changes to this guidance can only be made by the guidance, rules and forms team (GRaFT). If you think the policy content needs amending you must contact the settlement operational policy team, who will ask the GRaFT to update the guidance, if appropriate.

So perhaps the settlement operational policy team may be the appropriate team to enquire about this change(?). Their email ID used to be SettlementOpsPolicy@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk. Not sure if it has changed.

As expected, the KoLL guidance has not been updated yet to reflect the change in process.
