Good character - check for criminal conviction?

Hello,

There's a bit of unnecessarily about my wife's situation as she's been prosecuted for the tube fare dodging in January 2013 but the request to ACRO (Criminal Records Office) states no records are held against her file. What's interesting is that there is a court record of her offence, she plead guilty and paid the fine plus court fees and everything. This was not a simple £40 fine you pay on the spot, but a real hearing in a real court. As I said though ACRO holds no records. The paper by the way says clearly it is not a good character requirement certification.

Is there a way to know for sure if she has a criminal conviction or not? Are there any alternative government bodies we can send the request to? Could it have been just CCJ? Criminal convictions take 7 years to spend, but maybe fare dodging is just 3 years? How does Home Office check criminal records, can we send the request to the same body?

Any help will be apprecitated

What do the court papers say?
Have you contacted the court?

Anyway, as per AN guidance such a conviction leads to potential refusal within 3 years:

It is a statement of how much she was fined and what for, including the nil outstanding balance. It sais the "Date sentenced" on the top right, and states Collection Order as a description.
The 3 items are
- HM Courts Service - Attempt to travel on the railway without paying fare - £40
- London Underground Limited - Attempt to travel on the railway without paying fare - £130
- HM Courts Service - Attempt to travel on the railway without paying fare - £400

I mentioned the figures hoping it can shed the light on the procdure that took place

Sorry for the late update on this one. She has successfully received her PR, and nothing has shown up.

Its good to hear that she got her PR as this is NOT a criminal conviction as a criminal conviction should show up on your CRB or a DBS check as well as police record check
